Technology’s Long Tail

How does technology change over time? I was recently doing some reading on technology innovation and I came across this TED Talk by Chris Anderson, editor of WIRED Magazine. An interesting take on the phases that different technologies – like the DVD, the hard drive, VoIP & telephony – have evolved over time.
I think mobile telephony in African countries, especially in Kenya, squarely fall in this pattern. More on that later; for now, enjoy:
