Ujanja good in theory, for some reason I tend to think you spend $$ on the service, then the phone is stolen, UJANJA to the rescue. BUTT!!! the phone is sold in Uganda or TZ how much is it going to cost me to call these thief or customer??? I'll wait, its good in theory but practicability, there is a whole lot more to go into this

The only service you offer is to provide the number of the thug and leave the rest to the victim. Those charges are to much for such a service. Furthermore, hoping that a person will return the gadget because you call frequently is silly coz the guy can bar your number. The only persons who might benefit from this agreèment are the likes of safaricom and celtel because you have to make so many many calls.

Chris,

I think this product is possibly the first of its kind to be deployed in the regional market, so who knows - early adopters in the market might take.

However, my view is the primary focus should be on providing functionality to remotely recover the data, because that's what's most important, and then the gadget as secondary.

Ujanja seems to place more emphasis on the latter.

As I said, it's a great service to offer but I think subscribers should be paying for more than just text alerts/notifications.

This post is written more out of ignorance than anything else. There is no solid evidence to back what you say. Interestingly tracking products like this have shown impressive recovery results elsewhere in the world with as many as 80% of the people called returning the cell phones.

Anyway lets wait and see what the court of final appeal (the marketplace) says about this product.
