Internet Penetration in Kenya
According to the CCK Director-General, internet penetration in Kenya is lagging behind other ICT services, most notably mobile telephony:
“..the number of regular Internet users in Kenya remains below three million compared to 15 million mobile subscribers.
“He attributed the sub-sector’s poor performance to high bandwidth costs, lack of relevant content and limited ICT infrastructure in the rural areas.
The Kenya Communication Amendment Bill 2008 about to be debated before Parliament would provide the framework to push through of the fibre-optic projects underway.
That bill however, seems to be facing some opposition.
